MUSIC PORTFOLIO
This is a collection of musical tracks that I recorded, mixed, and mastered from start to finish.
This first playlist contains all of the tracks used for Cedarville's 2018 winter theater production, Joseph Robinette's dramatization of "The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe." I was the sound designer for this show, and I worked closely with composer and fellow student Calvin Hitchcock in the recording studio to record and master this music. Calvin was kind enough to let me use this music for my portfolio site with his permission.

Track 1 - Violins: James R. and Kristen J. Harp: Rachel B. Ocarina: Jordan F. Recorded the violins each with an AT-4050, the highs of the harp with a Shure SM81, the lows of the harp with a Blue Dragonfly, the mids of the harp with a Shure KSM32, the overall ensemble (mono) with a Blue Baby Bottle, and the overall ensemble (stereo) with a pair of AKG 451-Bs. The ocarina was recorded separately. This first track hints at the melody of "In the Bleak Midwinter."

Track 2 - Same mic setup and musicians as above, though again the ocarina was recorded later, and with the addition of cajón played by Campbell B. This song has a Celtic feel, with the melody of "Be Thou My Vision" in the harp beneath the ocarina.
Track 3 - This track only has one violin, provided by James R. The other musicians were the same as the first track, with again the same mics. Another song with a Celtic feel, and possibly my favorite of the list.

Track 4 - The same melody and feel as Track 3, but a shorter version, essentially a reprise.

Track 5 - A cheerful reprise of the second melody from Track 2, but much shorter and with only a single violin.

Track 6 - Ocarina only, played by Jordan F. It's the melody of "Be Thou My Vision" with some nice reverb underneath.

Track 7 - This song was used for the ending and bows of the show, and it has an upbeat, Celtic feel. In the actual show, I used an edit of this track with some of the middle sections looped, but this is the 'un-looped' version.
Here is an EP I recorded and mixed for a local band in the area. The band is called 5% Savvy and they titled this EP "Minimum Wage." One member of this band was also the co-host of my podcast, which is how I became involved with the group as a whole.

80-85 - Writer and lead guitar: Lucas Zellers. Bass guitar: Luke Bullis. Drums and vocals: Seth Brummer. Recorded, mixed, and edited by myself. We plugged both guitars directly into the wall and used virtual amps, and Seth had an electronic drumset that we brought in. Finally, we recorded Seth's vocals with an AKG C414.

Pedal to the Funk - Lead guitar: Lucas Zellers. Bass guitar and writer: Luke Bullis. Drums: Seth Brummer. Recorded, mixed, and edited by myself. Same setup as the first track, only there weren't any vocals to this one.
Working Title - Writer, keys, and vocals: Luke Bullis. Bass guitar: Lucas Zellers. Drums: Seth Brummer. Recorded, mixed, and edited by myself. The vocals were recorded with an AKG C414, while everything else was plugged into the wall (so we could use virtual amps, as the studio space was a little limited).

Uaine - Lead acoustic guitar and writer: Seth Brummer. Backing acoustic guitar: Lucas Zellers. Cajón: Luke Bullis. Recorded, mixed, and edited by myself. We used the AKG C414 to record Seth's acoustic, plugged Lucas's into the wall, and put a Shure SM81 and Shure Beta 52A on the cajón for the highs and lows (respectively). I believe this song is my favorite of the EP.

An Dath Uaine - Bonus Track - This is the acoustic version of "Uaine." Lucas, Luke, and Seth gathered around an AKG C414 (in a figure-8 mic pick-up pattern) and a Shure SM81 and recorded this song again. Featuring less processing and a more natural sound, this song is entirely a single take (the third one, I believe).
