AUDIO PORTFOLIO

Here you can find a few playlists of different audio projects I have produced. Unless stated otherwise, these projects were mixed using Pro Tools.

This is a playlist of longer audio dramas and stories.

Arsenic and Old Lace - I was the recording engineer for this half-hour radio drama. This was the final project of my Sound Design class, and all seven of us in the class filled different roles. I recorded all of the voice actors in the studio, and I also went out on location (a 100-year-old house) to record most of the ambience and Foley sound effects.

Redneck Days of Creation - The task here was to tell the story of Creation in an audio story, using the first chapter of Genesis as our 'script.' I found a Redneck version, so I decided to make a lighthearted version of this story. Jonathan L. provided the voice for the narrator, Andrew R. provided the voice for God, Christine A. provided the voice for Eve, and I myself provided the voice for Adam. I either recorded the sound effects used or found them in a library, and all of the vocals were recorded in studio.

Crossing the Red Sea (Focus on the Family Script) - This was a fun project, in which I was given the dialogue and some of the sound effects, as well as a script originally used by Focus on the Family. I then added in all of the background ambience, sound effects, and music, as well as some background voices. This project was done entirely in Adobe Audition.

Skit from The Mousetrap - I created this project for fun with a friend of mine (Seth B.). We were recording material for a demo reel he wanted to put together, and he came to me with this script from Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap. Seth voiced the main character, while Andrew R. and Cassie T. provided the other two voices. I recorded the voices in studio (using AT-4050's and a Blue Baby Bottle) and added in some music. I chose not to include sound effects, as this project was meant to showcase the voices specifically.

Restaurant Sketch - Similar to the Agatha Christie sketch, Seth B. and I were working on creating a voice demo reel. He wrote a short script about a couple and a waiter in a restaurant, and we decided to record it with just the two of us. In this clip, I used the raw audio from when we recorded it - none of our vocal audio was cut, sped up, or moved around. From this starting point, I added in effects, processing, pans, music, and a few sound effects. This sketch is fun to hear because of how the original audio is modified, since our vocal recording is uncut.

This is a playlist of some of the radio production pieces I have produced. Most of these were produced for Resound Radio, the student radio program on my college campus.

Resound Christmas Liner - This is one of three versions of this liner. I provided the voice-over at the beginning, and then I recorded a few people responding to the question. This liner, along with the others, aired on Resound Radio over Christmas break.

Concert Spot (Newsboys) - This project never actually aired on a radio station, but it was meant to be my own version of a concert promotion radio spot that did air on the radio at some point. I found a promotional radio spot for an 'upcoming' 2013 Newsboys concert, and I did my best to recreated it. My friend David B. provided the voice over for this project, which was mixed and processed in Adobe Audition.

Halloween Bowling Night - Promo - When our production manager asked me to create a promo with details regarding a Halloween bowling event held by the radio station, I came up with the idea to parody film and movie trailers, but in a humorous way. I really like how 'epic' and 'dramatic' the promo became, especially thanks to effective vocals by Josh G and some background vocals by Seth B. and Cassie T. This was recorded and mixed in studio, and I found the sound effects and music from an online SFX library.

Full Court Press - Promo - The Full Court Press is a show that airs Monday evenings on Resound, and I produced a promo for them to let listeners know. The station manager at the time (David L.) provided the voice for this promo as well.

Your Story - Promo - This promo was created for a show that aired Thursday evenings on Resound (during my junior year). I collaborated with Mojade A., the host of Your Story (who also kindly provided the voice for this promo), to write a meaningful script. I recorded the vocals using a Shure SM7B, and this promo received a very positive response from many listeners of the station.

This is a playlist of shorter audio dramas or clips, each about a minute long.

SFX Story Mix - For this project, my group (Tiffany D. and myself) was tasked with creating a story that consisted entirely of sound effects. We could use a some vocalized effects (coughing, breathing, struggling, muttering, and so on), but we could not use any vocals that explained the story or moved the story along (such as narration). Robbie L. provided the 'vocals' for the main character, and I provided the other 'vocals.' Tiffany and I recorded all of the sound effects ourselves with a recording kit (Sennheiser MKH-416 paired with a Zoom H6n) in such locations as a theater, car, stairway, and even a hiking trail outdoors. We were required to use the Wilhelm scream somewhere in the project, and that is the only effect we did not record ourselves.

Bobblehead Commercial - For this project, my group (consisting of Tiffany D., Caleb B., and myself) were tasked with creating an audio story of some kind. We decided to have two characters, voiced by myself and Tiffany, listening to the radio as they drove along. All of the voices on the radio were voiced by Tiffany, Caleb, and myself.

DUCK Radio - This fun little project where I had to create a minute-long audio story all by myself. I chose to have a one-minute segment of a radio station, DUCK radio, complete with different news topics (duck-related) and a performance by an 'amateur acapella group.' I provided the voices for both hosts, as well as all five voices and the claps for the group that can be heard in the middle.

60 Seconds of: Time - For this project, I had to create an audio story that put the listener in a specific place at a specific point in history. I recorded all of the sound effects myself and pulled the music from a music library. Matt A. was my voice actor for this project.

60 Seconds of: Terror - The challenge for this project was to elicit a sense of fear in the listener, but I wasn't allowed to use any prominent dialogue to move the story forward. In this story, the unfortunate character (voiced by myself, though very little is said) is watching TV as the world is about to end. I recorded most of the sound effects myself, and I pulled the rest from various sound libraries.

60 Seconds of: Movement & Change - The challenge here was to create an audio story that transports the listener to different settings and locations. The unfortunate teenager Sam accidentally time-travels to a variety of locations. I recorded most of these sounds myself, including the violin and saxophone solo, and Cassie T. and Jacob M. were the two voice actors.

60 Seconds of: Conflict - This was a challenge to create an audio story that elicits a sense of conflict in the listener. The story centers around two people driving in a car that suddenly breaks down. I produced this mix myself, and I had the help of Natalie C. and Bobby K. as the two voice actors.

60 Seconds of: Joy - This was actually the first of the "60-Seconds of:" projects I ever did. As with the others, I had to convey a specific feeling or emotion, and in this one I did my best to convey a sense of joy and happiness. Many of these sounds are from a SFX library, and I recorded the rest in my dorm room with a portable recording kit.
